Interim Actions
Interim actions typically are used to control or abate ongoing risk to human health or the environment in advance of final remedy selection. Cox-Colvin & Associates has implemented a wide range of interim actions under various regulatory programs, including:
- Source removal
- Installation of groundwater containment systems
- Institutional controls
- Supplying alternate sources of water, ranging from bottled water to the installation of municipal water-supply lines
- Recovery of non-aqueous phase liquids (NAPL)
- In-situ groundwater treatment to prevent contaminants from migrating offsite
- Drum overpacking and removal
- Elimination of contaminant migration pathways to surface and subsurface soil, groundwater, surface water, and indoor air.
To the extent possible, Cox-Colvin & Associates designs interim actions that are compatible with, or a component of, the final remedy.
