The Hazardous Waste Generator Improvements Rule became effective at the federal level on May 30, 2017. The final rule represents the most significant changes to the generator rules since the program was implemented nearly four decades ago. States with RCRA authority are required to adopt the more-stringent provisions of the rule by July 1, 2018, or July 1, 2019, if the state regulatory process includes a legislative step. To understand which provisions must be adopted, read more…

E-Manifests System Launch Date Scheduled for June 30, 2018

EPA plans to launch and begin operation of the e-Manifest hazardous waste tracking system nationally on June 30, 2018. The national system for electronically tracking hazardous waste from cradle to grave is intended to modernize the tracking process and save time, resources, and dollars for industry and states. The standard multi-copy paper manifest will be available for several more years, at an increased cost, but will be phased out over time. Don’t get caught flat footed as waste tracking enters the digital age. If you are not ready, EPA’s e-manifest website is a good place to start. Also talk with your hazardous waste vendors.
